Does anyone else have to wear a retainer on top and bottom?

I have to wear a top retainer and a bottom retainer.
It would be okay if I just had to wear one, but I have to wear two and it’s so painful and uncomfortable and I can hardly speak.
This is for 6 months 24/7.
It really affects intimate moments with my boyfriend.
Anyone else got the same problem?

Most people have to wear both top and bottom retainers after braces are removed. If you don’t wear them, your teeth will move and all that time you spent wearing braces will be wasted. Like the previous person said, if they are painful and tight, you probably aren’t wearing them enough.

Eventually you can probably just wear them at night, but you will need to wear them as long as you want your teeth to be straight. meaning, the rest of your life. If you ask enough people, someone will tell you that’s not necessary, but if you stop wearing your retainers and your teeth move and get crooked again, then it’ll be too late.

Yes it’s not good news, but once you get used to it, it’s not a big deal.
